Contractual Disputes
Having litigated numerous contract disputes, Walter's experience is employed not only to
seeking enforcement of a contract, but to also avoiding unnecessary litigation for those clients
for whom he drafts commercial leases, settlement agreements, easements, transactional
documents and other real estate agreements.
Walter has drafted numerous appeals to both Illinois Appellate Courts.
Disputing Property Taxes
Walter has vast experience in the area of ad valorem and real estate taxation. Having
worked several years as a commercial/industrial analyst at the Cook County Assessor's
Office in Chicago, Walter later went on to defend Cook County, the second largest county
in the nation - as an Assistant Cook County State's Attorney - against commercial and
industrial property owners appealing their valuations.
Zoning and Land Use
Working with local land use authorities, Walter has obtained approvals for developments
resulting in substantial benefits to clients. He drafted the winning appeal in a unique case
involving the disconnection of thousands of acres from the jurisdiction
of a land use authority.
Walter represented owners in a litigation matter involving a determination of whether
a local government granted a reasonable accommodation so as to allow a residential treatment
operator to house residents. He has handled many "typical" or general zoning and land use cases.
Lien Law

a lien against your property? It is critical that you properly and promptly address the issue.
Walter has successfully eliminated and reduced liens placed on a clients' property.
He has taken the Construction Registry Class and understands the recent revisions to
the lien statute including the process by which subcontractors, original contractors and
owners comply with the Construction Registry.)
